General Information

Cultural Traits

  • Craftmanship: The Paranian highly value craftmanship and see it as a worthy pasttime
  • Slow and Steady: Paranian has a casual, take-it-slow culture. Patience is valued, but does not mean that productivity is not important - it is just that Paranian don't see time as very important and is in no rush
  • No Waste, No Slaughter: Paranian are omnivorous - seeing no problem with eating plants or meat - it is essential, but are extremely against the ideas of raising animals purely to be slaughtered for meat, considering it awkward when they can speak to and understand the animals. Meat are eaten in Paranian culture and considered healthy - but they must come from animals that have died of old age or can no longer work - then they are ethnically euthanized after being calmed down - and then processed into food - with not a single part wasted. For the same reason Paranian frown upon food waste and see an empty plate as a good gesture and would rather overeat than seemingly leaving anything to be wasted.
  • Nature-Ish Architecture: Paranian build their houses with part of it without solid floor - or with dedicated shed or ground that is designated as resting place, with the Vedurian watering and fertilizing the ground and then sleeping there standing up - with their legs formed into tendrils into the ground. The second floor of their house - if any, are where the storages are, and Paranian seldomly have a bedroom outside of urban setting - living in apartment and in bedroom are seen as sign of poverty or crampedness - as Vedurian rest best rooted in the ground. They also construct fortification with large amount of manipulated, strong, fireproof wood, and has been slower than other in adopting stone fortification and houses.
  • Special Agriculture: Due to their own nature and their ability to communicate, the Vedurian agriculture method are slightly different from other races - with a focus on a house, and a small plot of land with densely planted fruit trees, and the Vedurian rooting around to communicate, supply nutrients and coax the trees into producing fruits - there are legumes and normal grain grown, but the typical staple grown are instead based on fruit. Villages tends to be centered around a communal building or cluster of it - with huts and houses spread throughout, and Vedurian gathering for socialization in the middle in the noon and during sunset.
  • Aquaculture: Paranian believes that animals shouldn't be raised purely to be slaughtered for meat - however, see no problem with raising fish specifically to be eaten because it doesn't count as "animals" in their conventional sense - they mostly only feel empathy with land animals - although talking to aquatic animal is possible, many Paranian choose to not understand them. As a result, just like the Nagas to the west, they raise a large amount of fish, selectively breed them to be larger, more efficient and delicious, and consume a large amount of fishes in their diet - both from wild caught fish off the fertile coast of Ruttenia, and from ponds and lakes where they grow carps and catfishes.
