Vardesh is a country located on the Vardesh peninsula in southwestern Ramul Ta. The people lives in the coastal plains on the northwestern side of the Vardeshi mountains.

History

Vardesh is a small nation nested in the northwestern side of the Vardesh mountains. It has generally benefited from trade with civilizations to its northeast, east and south, and its people are renown merchants.

Vardesh converted to Kozartism early on in its history, around 300 P.S. or so, and secured a premier position as the primary middlemen selling goods between the Siuian Empire and the Midians. When the Besian Gate were opened the Vards sailed right inside, mastered Arcane Seas sailing from the Silnarians and then proceeded to compete in the international marketplace.

Despite its defeat and forced vassalage under the Tilai Khanate, Vardesh's golden age is still continuing with prominent merchant funding and fueling buildings. They faces some competition from merchants from northeastern Ramul Ta, but they've generally failed to make inroads due to Vardesh's home port advantages.

Government

The Vardesh government is led by a hereditary King or Queen who rules with the nobles support. Merchants play a much more prominent role in the government and support from the prominent merchant families are needed for the monarch to retain their power.
