The Kingdom of Tazrara control trade between the steppes to the north and the Midian states to the west.
History
The territory of the current day Kingdom of Tazrara were inhabited by the Amhouli people since at least ten centuries ago. The regions around the Twin Lakes were home to a flourishing, agricultural community and is seen in Amhouli myth as the origin of the Amhouli people, supporting a vibrant community of agriculturalists that also engaged in seasonal nomadism.
The current ruling dynasty - the Rashed dynasty, came to power as a result of the previous dynasty's collapse during a failed Tilai invasion of the kingdom, where the Tazraran were supported by the Midians. General Rashed was at the time a noble who were leading a group of mercenaries in service to the Larsaki League, and returned with an intact force of over a thousand mercenaries to remove contenders in the wake of the Kirigs retreat. Rashed passed away around thirty years into his reign, to be succeeded by his son, Aouras Rashed.
Aouras has been embarking on a strategy of peaceful rebuilding of his kingdom and oversees the longest period of constant peace in Tazrara or indeed, the Amhouli people's history, keeping his country neutral while occasionally lending support in the form of mercenary company to either the Larsaki League or Ninurmah Empire. To the south, Tazrara has been slowly but surely expanding its influence amongst the natives of the land.
Government
Power within the Kingdom rests in the hands of the kings and the powerful, hereditary nobles of the court - much like many other land, and a bureaucratic and centralized system has not taken over yet. The most powerful hereditary nobles generally live around the twin lakes area and and on the outskirts of the kingdoms are hereditary or elected chieftains of Amhouli clans who are also important in the politics of the Kingdoms. The nobles control the cities and densely settled villages, whereas the chieftains are in control of more sparsely settled land.
Economy
Tazrara's economy is a diversified, typical medieval-renaissance one, with flourishing trade heading primarily in the north-south directions, with salt and livestock traded south from Sahlean and Kirig traders and gold, ivory and tropical products traded north alongside land routes. The twin lakes are used for seabound transport of part of the goal, and then are taken by land to the border city of Anfa to be bargained away.
