Pinnacelia is an island nation located in the Pinnacelian archipelago, created by an Arcane Gate accident in the north. It is a loosely organized federation of city.

History

The archipelago known as Pinnacelia was created by an Arcane Gate accident that seemingly transposed the islands out of nowhere into the Prime Realm and granted it a magically warm and tropical-like climate. The islands were settled by a small group of Silnarian and then followed by a large migration of the Arcanic people onto the islands.

Around Year 700 P.S., the Silnarian formally took control of the islands and turned it into one of their main colonies. The local Arcanic started to assimilate and use their overlords language and assimilated part of their culture. The Silnarian transplanted numerous tropical crops and established various plantations. They later discovered for unknown reason that long-lived species like Oak grew quickly on the island, and established a series of well-protected forests in order to supply their navy, which supplied a large shipbuilding industry from 760 P.S. Onward. Supported by this shipbuilding industry Pinnacelia developed into a relatively autonomous colony of Silnaria and the native Arcanic people soon gained great sway in how the colony is run while under nominal Silnarian authority.

The colony stayed loyal during the chaos that led to the Silnarian Empire splitting in half - but when the Lymian warred for independence, Pinnacelia saw the writing on the wall and broke off from the Silnarian during Year 975 - supported by a detachment of Lymian warships. It took less than a year before Pinnacelia became a haven for pirates and smugglers who opportunistically attacked everyone - Lymian and Silnarian included by exploiting its position that gave easy access to shipping routes in the Arcane Seas while being far away enough in the Prime Realm that a naval invasion would be difficult. For the next century, Pinnacelia gained notoriety as a pirate haven.

This all changed in Year 1034 when the leader of a local Silnarinized Arcanic noble house known as the Maraithe - with some subtle support from the Silnarian, took over the island in a series of brief and violent warfare, purging rival pirates faction and pledging to suppress piracy - much to the joy of the Silnarians. He then proceeded to play his own internal rivals against each other in one after another bloody purge and then consolidated his power, re-establishing an organized and powerful Pinnacelian navy, and crushed several farmers' revolts as he allied with powerful landowners who re-established large and competitive plantations. These agricultural goods are then exported to fill Haturial’s coffers, finance his navy and import much needed scarce metals for the islands.

Under the rule of Haturial II Maraithe the Principality of Pinnacelia is now a rising naval power and formally allied with the Silnarian, lending them much needed naval strength to compete with the Lymian.

Government

The Principality of Pinnacelia is ruled with an iron fist by its monarch, Haturial II Maraithe, who is descended from a powerful Silnarinized noble house and is known for being ruthless to his enemies and generous to his friends.

Locations

The capital of the Principality is the port city of Halpanas, located on the northern side of the island of Tarnassa. The other three inhabited islands - in order of size and importance, are Arunvash, Wathara and Tarunara.

Other significant cities include Haturis and Luarna.

The islands of Pinnacelia are extremely fertile and rich in agricultural resources but have very poor mineral resources with barely usable iron deposits and no significant deposits of other ore.

Military

Pinnacelia’s expertise in large scale land warfare remains to be tested, but Pinnacelian are expert at naval boarding combat and is well known for its marine-frogmen who would dive willingly into frigid sea and swim at alarming speed to climb up enemy vessels and board them.

They field one of the larger navies in Ramul Ta, but their navy is chronically short on cannons (Compared to Yor Sea or the Lymian navy) and relies on boarding combat to make up for deficiency in firepower and prefer to spend cast iron and bronze on swivel cannons that set them up for boarding combat instead.
